How do I book a space on route 7?

Visit our website at www.ssl.fo and click on "Booking" in the top right corner. Complete your booking and pay by credit or debit card. You will receive an email confirmation once your booking is complete. Please note, you only need to book a space for the vehicle and driver. All other foot passengers must purchase their tickets separately for the route between Tvøroyri and Tórshavn.

When can I book a space on route 7?

You can book up to 1 hour before departure.

Can I book a return trip?

Yes, you can book both single and return trips.

Do I need to book a space?

No, you can join the line for vehicles without a booking. However, vehicles with pre-bookings will board first, followed by others.

We do recommend booking a spot, as pre-booked vehicles/passengers have priority boarding. Additionally, it is cheaper to pre-book your ticket.

Do I have to be a registered user?

No, you are welcome to book directly without logging in and pay with your credit/debit card.

Is it necessary to book a space if I'm only travelling on foot?

No, you can book directly without logging in and pay with your credit or debit card.

Are there any advantages to being a registered user?

Yes, registered users receive a 15% discount when booking with their account.

How do I know if there is space available on my intended journey?

The number of available spaces is shown in parentheses next to the departure times. If a departure time cannot be selected, it means that departure is fully booked.

Is there a waiting list?

No, there is no waiting list. However, you can join the queue for vehicles without a booking.

Can I cancel a booked journey?

Yes, you can. At the bottom of your receipt, there is a link where you can edit or cancel your booking.

Will I be refunded if I cancel a journey?

Yes, you will receive a full refund if you cancel at least 2 hours before departure.

When can I expect to receive the refund for the cancelled journey?

Typically, refunds are processed within 2-5 working days. However, for overseas transactions, the time frame can extend up to 30 days, depending on your credit or debit card issuer.

Can I change a booked journey?

Yes, you can. At the bottom of your receipt, there is a link where you can edit your booking. You can change the license plate, select a different departure date, or cancel your journey. If you booked using your SSL profile, you can log in to your profile and make changes on your user page.

I plan to travel with a rental car but I do not know the specific details yet. How do I book?

You can make a preliminary booking using a placeholder license plate. Afterward, once you know the correct license plate, you can edit your booking using the link provided at the bottom of your booking confirmation.

It's crucial to ensure the license plate is accurate before your journey, as it will be scanned during boarding. An incorrect license plate will result in your vehicle being registered as unpaid, and your initial booking will be forfeited. In such cases, you'll need to purchase a new ticket onboard without receiving a refund for the previous booking.

If I do not show up will I get a refund?

If you do not show up on time, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Do I need to show my receipt when I board?

It's recommended to have your booking receipt handy, as SSL staff may ask to see your booking confirmation.

I haven't received a receipt, what should I do?

Please check if you entered the correct email address when you made the booking. Also, ensure to check your spam folder.

I haven't booked. Can I still turn up?

Yes, you can still turn up and join the queue for vehicles without a booking. However, we recommend pre-booking a spot on the ferry to prioritize boarding. If there is available space, you can board and purchase your ticket onboard. Booking in advance also ensures a lower ticket price.

How do I know if my booking has been confirmed?

You will receive a confirmation receipt by email once your booking is completed.

I have an electric car. Is there limited space available for electric cars?

Currently, there are no restrictions on traveling with an electric car. However, for safety reasons, please inform us whether you are traveling with an electric car or a gasoline/diesel car when making your booking.

Can I pay with an SSL card?

You cannot use your discount card in our booking system. However, foot passengers can purchase tickets on board using an SSL card and may receive a discount. You can also pay for your vehicle ticket with an SSL card, but no discount will apply.
