Booking
You can book 2 months ahead of your intended departure and up until departure.
Children under the age of 7 travel for free, but it is necessary to book a seat for them.
You can pay with your credit/debit card. An additional fee might be added to the ticket price, depending on what type of payment is being used.
Meeting time
You must show up at least 10 min. before departure. If you arrive later than this your seat will be given to another passenger and you will not get a refund.
Book Without an Account
You pay with your debit/credit card when booking. Additional fees might be added to the ticket price, depending on what type of payment is being used.
The receipt with the booking information will be sent to you by e-mail. Please check your spam folder if you haven´t received the receipt.
Book With an Account
If you travel frequently with our ferries, you can create an SSL account in our booking system and book your trips with your account. This allows you to conveniently pay for each individual trip with your debit/credit card.
Creating an account also offers several advantages:
Easy Access to Your Bookings: You can easily find and review your past and upcoming trips in one place.
Convenient Editing: Need to make changes to your booking? You can quickly modify your travel details through your account.

Important Note: We recommend booking each trip individually and paying with your debit/credit card at the time of booking. We do not advise pre-loading your account with funds, as refunds may not be possible.
Creating an account does not secure you a seat on our ferries, you still need to book tickets for your journeys.
When logged in to your account, you are eligible for temporary discounts on some routes until September 1st, 2024.
Route 7: 15% discount for vehicles under 5.5m and passengers on foot when booking with your SSL account.
Route 56: 15% discount for vehicles under 5.5m and passengers on foot when booking with your SSL account.
No discounts are available for any other routes.

SSL-Cards
It is not possible to book a ticket with your SSL card in our booking system. If you show up and buy your ticket on board, you can pay with your SSL card on board the ferry.
Cancellation by customer
Booked tickets can be cancelled until 2 hours before departure. At the bottom of your receipt there is a link where you can edit your booking and from here you can also cancel your trip. If the booking is cancelled 2 hours before departure you will receive a full refund. After this you cannot cancel your booking, and you will not get a refund.
Changes In Your Booking
You can edit your booking by clicking on the link 'edit booking' in your confirmation e-mail. If you have booked with your SSL account, you can edit your booking on your account.
Delays Or Cancellations by SSL
If a journey is cancelled all bookings will be cancelled and refunded. You will then need to make a new booking.
All cancellations will be announced on ssl.fo. It is the customer's responsibility to check the website for information about these cancellations.
We also offer a text message service that you can subscribe to, where cancellations and delays are announced. You can find information about this service under the "Customer Service" menu on our website. However, there may be issues with non-local phone numbers, which is why we recommend always checking the website as the primary source of information.
SSL does not refund expenses or loss of income arising from delays or cancellations of SSL journeys.
Please note:
- It is your own responsibility to make sure you have booked for the correct departure.
- It is your own responsibility to cancel your booking if you are unable to make it to the journey.
- Locals of Skúvoy are secured 5 seats on the ferry on every trip between Sandur and Skúvoy.
