Terms & Conditions - Route 7

Booking

You can book until 1 hour before departure.

You pay with your debit/credit card when booking. Additional fees might be added to the ticket price, depending on what type of payment card is used.

All vehicles, that have pre-booked a spot, have a priority to board the ferry.

You must register the license plate of the vehicle, when booking a spot.

You can both book single trip as well as a return trip.

Meeting Time - Vehicles:

The vehicle must be in the car lane at least 25 min. before departure. You only book for the vehicle (driver is included in the vehicle fare). All additional passengers must walk on board via the terminal and buy their tickets on board, but please note that:

  • Children under the age of 7, that travel for free, can stay in the vehicle while boarding.
  • Helpers of disabled passengers, that travel for free, can stay in the vehicle while boarding.

Please note!

SSL staff have the full right to refuse vehicles, that are not in line on time, to board the ferry. You will not receive a refund for the ticket.

Booking can only be used for the booked vehicle, meaning, your ticket cannot be used for a different vehicle.

Booking Without an SSL Account

You can book directly without logging into an account and pay with your debit/credit card when booking. An additional fee might be added to the price, depending on what type of payment card is being used.

Ticket and booking confirmation will then be sent your e-mail. If you have not received your e-mail, please check that the e-mail address is correct and check your spam folder.

Booking With an SSL Account

If you travel frequently with our ferries, you can create an SSL account in our booking system and book your trips with your account. This allows you to conveniently pay for each individual trip with your debit/credit card.

Creating an account also offers several advantages:

  • Easy Access to Your Bookings: You can easily find and review your past and upcoming trips in one place.

  • Convenient Editing: Need to make changes to your booking? You can quickly modify your travel details through your account.

You can see the instructions for creating an account here:

Important Note: We recommend booking each trip individually and paying with your debit/credit card at the time of booking. We do not advise pre-loading your account with funds, as refunds may not be possible.

When logged in to your account, you are eligible for temporary discounts on some routes until September 1st, 2024.

  • Route 7: 15% discount for vehicles under 5.5m and passengers on foot when booking with your SSL account.

  • Route 56: 15% discount for vehicles under 5.5m and passengers on foot when booking with your SSL account.

No discounts are available for any other routes.

Creating an account does not secure you a seat on our ferries, you still need to book tickets for your journeys.

You can see a statement of your booked trips on your account.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact our customer service team.

SSL Discount Cards

It is not possible to book with your SSL discount card or Travel card in the booking system. If you are planning to travel with your discount card, you can get in the lane for cars, that have not booked, and buy your ticket on board. Passengers on foot must always buy their ticket on board the ferry.

Cancellation and Changes in Booking

You can make changes in your booking or cancel your booking until 2 hours before departure. There is a link in your booking confirmation, from where you can edit and/or cancel your booking.

If you have booked with your SSL account you can edit and cancel your booking on your SSL account.

You have until 2 hours before departure to cancel your trip and you will receive a full refund for the booking. After this, you cannot edit or cancel your trip and you will not receive a refund.

Cancelled Departure

If a departure is cancelled by SSL, all bookings for that specific trip will be cancelled and refunded automatically. You will then have to make a new reservation for a different departure.

All cancellations and delays will be announced on ssl.fo. It is the customer's responsibility to check the website for information about these cancellations and delays.

We also offer a text message service that you can subscribe to, where cancellations and delays are announced. You can find information about this service under the "Customer Service" menu on our website. However, there may be issues with non-local phone numbers, which is why we recommend always checking the website as the primary source of information.

SSL does not refund expenses or loss of income arising from delays or cancellations of SSL journeys.

Important Information:

It is your own responsibility to make sure you have booked for the correct departure.

It is your own responsibility to make sure that the height and length of the vehicle is correct, in order to ensure the correct ticket. If the given informations are incorrect, you risk being refused to board the ferry and you will not receive a refund for the ticket.

It is your own responsibility to make sure the license plate in the reservation is correct. If the license plate is incorrect, you will be referred back to the car queue and you will lose your reservation and will not get a refund.

It is your own responsibility to cancel a booked trip if you decide not to make use of it.

The balance left on your SSL account can only be transferred to a Faroese bank account.

From January 1st 2025 changes will be made in the terms and conditions for the SSL account. You will be charged a fee of 200 DKK when requesting the remaining balance on your SSL profile to be transferred back to your bank account (remaining balance will only be transferred to Faroese bank accounts).

If the remaining balance is less than 200 DKK, you will not get it transferred.

SSL profiles, that have been inactive for 3 years, will be deleted and the remaining balance will be dissolved.

Please Note:

If an emergency vehicle, e.g. ambulance, needs a space on the ferry, the last car in line has to give up their space for the emergency vehicle.
